Amble Youth Project boosted by 10-year sponsorship deal worth £50,000

Cheviot Holdings (Amble) has agreed to make an annual donation of £5,000 to the charity for the next 10 years.

Maurice Sewell, chairman of Cheviot Holdings, said: “Since starting a housing development programme in Amble we have been impressed by its strong caring community and we are pleased to be able to support the young people in the area via the Amble Youth Project.

"We hope to be able to offer employment to local people soon and continue to contribute to the future success of the community.”

A photoshoot of the cheque presentation was planned but unfortunately Covid-19 prevented this.

Ian Parks and Jeff Watson of Amble Youth Project said “It was a shame to have to cancel the cheque presentation but it does not spoil the appreciation that we feel for this ongoing sponsorship from Cheviot Holdings.

"It will help to ensure that we can continue to support the young people of the town for years to come.”

The self-supporting project is restricted by Covid precautions at the moment but is doing as much as it can to continue its work with young people and will resume normal operations when it is safe to do so.

The charity has been operating for over 20 years.

Amble Youth Project would like to increase its trustees who oversee its work.

Although anyone interested is welcome to apply, a local parent would be especially welcomed.
