For the last few years Alnwick Rotary Club has collected, wrapped and delivered Christmas presents to children living in this area.

These are children who would otherwise get few, if any, presents at Christmas.

Last year around 300 presents were donated and just over 150 local children received presents.

“Unfortunately owing to Covid restrictions we are unable to collect presents this year,” explained project organiser Jill Clark.

"Instead, we are asking people, and businesses, to donate gift vouchers which we will wipe clean and deliver in time for Christmas.

"Parents can use them to buy presents or, if applicable, have a family treat at Christmas.”

Schools and local businesses have also been contacted to try and drum up support.

Collection boxes are in Specsavers, Newcastle Building Society and Penrose’s (when it reopens) where vouchers, or a donation, can be left.
