All the winners at Alnwick and District Sports Council Awards
Sports stars from the Alnwick area have been honoured for their efforts.

Alnwick and District Sports Council held its annual awards night at the Playhouse theatre.
Awards were presented across 15 categories.

Jim Manford, winner of the Northumberland Gazette Sports Personality of the Year. He is pictured receiving his award from the Duke of Northumberland and special guest, former athlete Allison Curbishley, at the 2019 Alnwick Sports Awards. He completed his 300th marathon last year. In addition to his amazing talent for distance running he has just published his 10th book in his Marathon Tourism series. Also shortlisted: Lucy Bronze, Peter Grey, Laura Weightman, Adam White. Oliver Telfer, left, winner of the Most Improved Sportsperson at the 2019 Alnwick Sports Awards held at the Alnwick Playhouse. He is pictured with Steven Temple, from award sponsor Willowburn Sports and Leisure Centre. Ollie is an Alnwick Harrier from Lesbury and he takes part in a number of cross country, track and field events. He is currently the North East Counties under 17 Pentathlon Champion. He was also 2nd in the Northern Schools 1500m steeplechase. In 2019, he increased his pentathlon score by over 250 points and reduced his 1500m North East ranking to 7th. Amy Gibson, winner of the Senior Female award, sponsored by the Wooler Wheel, at the 2019 Alnwick Sports Awards. She is pictured, right, after the presentation night, with Janet Pibworth from Wooler Wheel. Amy only took up weightlifting at the start of 2018 and at the 2019 British Age Group Championships she finished with a 58kg snatch and 80kg clean and jerk to celebrate her first national gold. Earlier in the year at the English Championships, Amy recorded personal bests in the snatch and clean and jerk, recording successful lifts of 61kg and 80kg respectively to take the silver medal. Louise Jones, winner of the Volunteer of the Year award, sponsored by The Cookie Jar, at the 2019 Alnwick Sports Awards held at the Alnwick Playhouse. It is said that Louise is the heart and soul of everything fundraising and organising within both Alnwick Town FC and Alnwick Town Juniors FC. She helps raise thousands upon thousands of pounds for the club year in year out; money that enables the club to provide new facilities and keep their annual membership costs as low as possible.
