A range of events for the first week of Berwick Heritage Open Days

Berwick will once again be transformed into a vibrant historical hub as Heritage Open Days (HODS) returns with more than 90 free events for to explore.

Running from September 6 until September 15, there is a packed programme of guided walks, talks, exhibitions and open buildings for everyone to enjoy for free and learn more about the history of the town.

To kick-start HODS 2024, there is a exciting programme of events this coming weekend including guided walks of the Old Bridge and Berwick and Tweedmouth Cemeteries, activities in Berwick Library and a tour of the Lions House Allotments.

There are exhibitions to explore such as 90s Revisited by the Berwick Youth Project (Saturday only) and even a couple of online talks about the Brown Bear, the Old Bridge and the Barracks.

Spittal is joining in the fun too with several new guided walks, the self-guided Secret Spittal display and even a guided walk from Spittal to Scremerston looking at the area’s coal mining heritage.

A range of well-known venues will be open during the second HODS weekend, but during the week there are some new additions to the programme.

Martins the Printers will be opening its doors for free guided tours on Wednesday, September 11 and Thursday, September 12 and Berwick Rangers is also taking part with guided tours on September 11, September 12 and Friday, September 13.
