Pedestrians were few and far between in the town centre where non-essential shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants have been forced to close.
A smattering of essential shops remain open – with some attracting a steady trickle of customers – but the streets were eerily quiet.
It was all in stark contrast to the night before lockdown when a hugely successful late night shopping event was held and the town’s pubs and bars were busy.

1. Market Place
The Market Place would normally be busy with traders and shoppers for the Thursday market but it was virtually deserted.
