Pensioner hurt after two-car collision closes road

Police are appealing for witnesses after a two-car collision near Alnwick last night.

The B6341 was closed for two hours after the accident at the Alnwick Moor junction at 7.50pm.

The collision involved a Mercedes car travelling west towards Rothbury and a Peugeot 206, which had turned right onto the B6341 to travel east.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 79-year-old woman, was injured and taken to the RVI for treatment. Her condition is described as comfortable.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the collision is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191, quoting log number 1134 of 12/07/15.
