A patient has been airlifted to hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest at the Morrisons store in Berwick.

Emergency services, including Northumbria Police and North East Ambulance Service, have been called to the Morrisons, in Loaning Meadows, this afternoon (Wednesday, July 1).

A spokesman for the North East Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 3.26pm to reports of a person in cardiac arrest at the Morrisons in Berwick.

“We sent four resources and requested the support of the Great North Air Ambulance.

“The patient has been transported to hospital via air.”

The air ambulance is believed to have left the area at around 5.15pm.

Pictures show a number of ambulances and police vehicles parked outside the store and witnesses say motorists were being stopped from entering the car park.
