A special celebration is being held by Alnwick Labour Party to mark the NHS turning 70 today.
The birthday party will be staged on Saturday, at the Town Hall, in Alnwick Market Place, from 11am to 2pm.
The event will feature guest speakers from 1pm to 2pm. MP for Wansbeck, Ian Lavery MP; the regional head of the Royal College of Nursing; and the regional secretary of Unison are lined up to speak.
Entry is free and there will be cake and tea. People will also be able to sign an NHS birthday card, which will be handed over to a representative from the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Promoting the event, Alnwick Labour Party’s Facebook page states: ‘Join us on Saturday for a fantastic celebration of 70 years of Labour’s proudest achievement – the NHS. Come and have some cake, a cup of tea and share your experiences and history of this phenomenal institution.’
