Parent interest in threatened school

A SCHOOL threatened with closure has seen great success at an open day for prospective pupils.

Governors of Rock Hall School announced that it was set to close at the end of the academic year because of rising costs and falling roll numbers.

But on Sunday, January 8 a special open day was held to entice new pupils, with organisers seeing great results.

At least 20 potential pupils ranging from Years 3 to 8, and their families, attended the afternoon as well as numerous families from around the district, all in support of the school remaining open.

Parent of an existing pupil, Robert Cook, said: “The open day was a very positive first step in saving Rock Hall School and both the school and the parents were encouraged by all the support.

“Further actions will support this activity, however the open day was a huge step forward.”

Anyone who was unable to attend the open day and would like to visit the school, please contact, Lucia Bridgeman via email or the school directly on 01665 579224.
