Applicant Mr J Aynsley has lodged the bid for a site on the western edge of Thropton, next to Thropton Demesne and south of the B6341, from where access to the site would be taken.

The application is in outline at this stage, but it ‘would provide a mix of residential units’.

A planning statement submitted on behalf of the applicant by George F White says: ‘The number of units proposed can be accommodated quite comfortably on the size of the site while still being able to provide appropriate separation and amenity areas.’

It continues: ‘The economic benefits arising from the delivery of up to 18 new homes would give weight for the proposal.

‘The proposed development would make a positive contribution to the social dimension of sustainable development, through the provision of 18 new family self-build homes which would assist with the Government objective set out in the NPPF (planning guidelines) to significantly boost the supply of new housing.

‘There is a strong positive case for development of the site which would bring benefits in meeting the housing supply and addressing housing need requirements.

‘The proposed residential scheme will make a positive contribution towards the quality of the built environment of Thropton, through high-quality design. The lack of environmental harm is a neutral factor in the overall balance of sustainable development.’
