This week’s dog of the week is Oscar, a very intelligent six-year-old who needs a very specialised home.
Nothing pleases him more than a play session with a ball or two, or even three but other dogs, cats and children just cause him too much stress.
Stephen Wylie, from SHAK, this year’s Jam Jar Army beneficiary, said: “Because we know quite a lot about his past, we are looking for a very understanding and German Shepherd-experienced person to give him a Forever Foster home.”

There’s some good news about Boe, another SHAK resident, who has found a new home.
Stephen said: “I’m delighted to say that little Boe has found a new home, and after going to see him with his new family last week they all look happy.
“Boe, a Labrador cross, was only with us for a short time but at only about six months old, it’s sad to think that he needed us so early in his life, but it just shows how desperate things are right now.
“It’s great to see him just being a puppy at last.”
The Jam Jar Army campaign is now in its third year, having raised more than £25,000 in its first two years for HospiceCare North Northumberland and the Alnwick Playhouse Youth Theatre.
