Majority in our poll say it was right for Harry and Meghan to lose HRH titles

The couple will also no longer formally represent the Queen. This follows their announcement that they will step down as senior royals and divide their time between the Canada and the UK.

We asked in our Facebook poll: “Are the Royal Family right to strip Harry and Meghan of their HRH titles?”

At the time of writing over 1,100 people had voted, with 79% saying yes and 21% no. Here is some of the reaction.

Pete Spence asked: “What difference does this make? The world knows who they are and their lineage will always come to the fore when people judge their worth.”

Eric Lewis said: “While I don't have any interest in the Royal Family function, I do have an interest in this young man’s mental health.

“I wish people would stop and think about the person. The gutter press are the destroyer of this young couple’s family life. Why don't people just leave them alone to get on with their lives and mind your own business?”

John Elliott thinks: “When Her Majesty passes away they should disband the lot of them. Get proper jobs. Do something useful instead of living on lavish benefits all your privileged life.”

Caz Rae’s thoughts were: “Regardless of what Harry will officially be called, he will always remain His Royal Highness Prince Harry to many people.”
