A big waggy-tailed welcome to our new weekly column
Every week, in this column, we will be highlighting different areas of our work which aims to find a new life for pooches that have fallen on hard times for various reasons. We work closely with local authorities, local veterinary practices and neighbouring dog welfare organisations.

Hide AdNDR is primarily volunteer-based and we are very fortunate to have such a dedicated team. They always go the extra mile for every dog in our care and love each and every one of them like their own. As well as our kennel volunteers, we have our fantastic fundraisers and fosterers – not forgetting our fabulous staff!
We have successfully rehomed hundreds of dogs who are now living their best lives in their new homes from Berwick to Newcastle. We do not operate a ‘get them in, get them out’ policy, we want our dogs to find a home for life. We have a robust adoption process to ensure this. We also offer extensive post-adoption support and full rescue back-up for life – we are always here for our adopters, regardless of time passed.
We have some exciting projects in the pipeline, which we’ll reveal in the coming months to see how you can get involved. As well as housing our rescue dogs, we also operate a fully licenced boarding kennels which provides a vital source of income for us. Visit: www.pattersonskennels.com

Hide AdEach week, we will be showcasing one of the dogs in our care who needs a new chance in life and kick off with adorable Skye.
Please read the specific requirements – we assess and treat every dog as an individual, and include as much information as we can in each post and won't be able to respond to questions on here due to caring for the dogs in our care.

Hide AdSkye, an 11-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier, would like your help.
Skye has had a rough time up to now, so what we are really wanting is somewhere for her to live out her retirement and enjoy some home comforts. She loves to play with a ball and other toys and enjoys short walks.
She is very people friendly and loves everyone. She mostly ignores other dogs and has walked alongside them without issue, although would ideally be better as an only dog as she likes her person to be just her person.

Hide AdSkye is fully house trained and has no prey drive. Breed-experienced owners are not necessary. Although she tends to ignore dogs, we believe that she would be better as an only dog as she likes her person to be just her person.
She seems very polite around children and would benefit from someone at home for company.
General background: Skye has had issues with her ears and skin we now have this in a stable condition and we will cover her existing issues going forward. The new owner will need to easily access our vets in Alnwick for continuity of care.
