Onion club supports hospice

Kind-hearted members of The Coach Inn Onion Club, Lesbury, presented a belated 21st birthday and early Christmas present to HospiceCare North Northumberland, at an informal get-together.

Jane Stratton, who received the £300 cheque on behalf of HospiceCare, said that the generous gift would help its Hospice at Home service, providing one full night and part of the next day of home care to a local person.

The organisation requires half-a-million pounds each year to keep its crucial operation going.

HospiceCare is north Northumberland’s only local hospice providing personalised care and support to adults, carers and families whose lives are affected by cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, such as respiratory and heart disease, motor neurone disease and multiple sclerosis.
