Ongoing water issues in the Alnwick area

Some households in Alnwick and the surrounding area are still experiencing issues with their water supply, which was caused by a problem at a reservoir.

The problems are affecting the NE65 and NE66 postcode areas and Northumbrian Water engineers are working to resolve them as quickly as possible.

A Northumbrian Water spokeswoman told the Gazette that the original issue was that water was getting into one of the reservoirs. That issue has been resolved, but in the course of refilling the reservoir, it is thought that there may be an airlock which the team is working to find now.

The spokeswoman added that the majority of customers should have their water supply back following the fix of the original fault. There is no timescale at this point as to when the other properties will have water again.

There was also a power cut earlier in the NE66 and NE67 postcode areas, affecting 390 premises, with Northern Powergrid reporting that the electricity was off between 12.30pm and 2.35pm.
