The official naming ceremony of Amble RNLI’s new state-of-the-art lifeboat is being held on Saturday.
The town welcomed the Shannon-class vessel in November following a £200,000 fund-raising effort to help pay for her.
As part of the money-making efforts, the Shannon was the beneficiary of the Northumberland Gazette’s Jam Jar Army campaign in 2015.
The £2million boat is named Elizabeth and Leonard, in memory of a couple whose legacy helped to fund it.
The ceremony will take place at Radcliffe Quay from 3.30pm, with the service at 4pm. The lifeboat will launch afterwards for a demonstration. The public is invited to attend.
