Northumberland restaurant wins major heritage award

A quirky Alnwick restaurant has scooped a prestigious national award.

The Alnwick Garden Treehouse Restaurant has won the Best Eating Out prize in the 2015 Hudson’s Heritage Awards, which celebrates the best visitor experiences throughout the country.

The treetop structure, a major feature of the refurbishment of The Alnwick Garden, was first opened to the public 10 years ago in early 2005 and recently was recently placed amongst the quirkiest in the world.

It wasn’t the only north Northumberland venue to win a Hudson’s Heritage Award this year.

Lady Waterford Hall in Ford came out on top in the Hidden Gem category.
