A man had to be rescued after getting stuck under a Northumberland pier while trying to recover a lost mobile phone.

Coastguard and RNLI volunteers attended Amble’s South Pier this evening, Monday, July 20.

Amble Coastguard Rescue Team and lifeboat were called after reports of a man stuck while attempting to retrieve a phone.

The man was recovered from the water by the Lifeboat and returned to the boathouse where he was handed over to Coastguards for casualty care.
