Each year, HospiceCare North Northumberland hosts a number of open garden events to give the public the chance to see garden which otherwise would be closed.

On Sunday, the gardens at Blagdon Hall will be open with kind permission of its owner Lord Ridley.

Blagdon Estate covers approximately 13 square miles. Some of the grounds design has been influenced by Edwin Lutyens. Wander through the lovely quarry garden and stroll along the meandering paths to beautiful lakes and follies and enjoy the peaceful scenery.

The gardens also boast a national tree collection. You can also see the oldest tree and slice through its fossilised trunk, which was found in Durham in 1998 and is thought to be 310million years old.

There will also be live music, tractor and trailer rides, produce stalls and homemade teas on offer as well as a plant sale.

The gardens will be open from 1pm to 5pm. Entry is £4, under 16s are free. Dogs on leads are welcomed.
