North Northumberland’s newest brewery has just delivered its first beer to the pub where one of the company’s two founders previously worked as bar manager.
Credence Brewing, based in Amble, has been formed by friends Michael Graham and Matt Taylor.
Their first brew, Credence Blonde, has been taken by the Red Lion in Alnmouth and has proved to be so popular – the first barrel sold out in two-and-a-half hours – that the pub has ordered further supplies.
It has been a long-term ambition of Michael and Matt to start their own brewery and, after meeting through friends, they realised they shared the same passion and beliefs in great food and beer.
Credence Brewing has released its core range, which is their true belief of how a blonde, pale, porter and IPA should be.
The company branding and logo were inspired by the ancient rock carvings found in Northumberland, which were crafted by hand with care and precision – like Credence’s beers.
Michael said: “Northumberland is an exciting place to be involved in the food and drinks industry.
“There are so many great restaurants, pubs and places of interest so it felt right to be here.
“We would like to thank everyone for the help and support we have received in setting up the business.”
Red Lion landlord Mac McHugh added: “I’ve known Michael for more than a decade and know how passionate he is about great beer.
“I’ve enjoyed supporting the guys upon their journey.
“It’s great to have a local business who cares about beer as much as we do.”
