Northumberland castle in running for heritage award

The shortlist for the 2017 Hudson’s Heritage Awards has been announced and Bamburgh Castle is one of four locations up for the Best Accommodation, alongside Weston Park and Combermere Abbey, both in Shropshire, and Dylan Thomas’ Birthplace in Swansea.

The Hudson’s Heritage Awards celebrate the high-quality experiences enjoyed by visitors to a wide range of heritage attractions.

Established in 2011, the awards are an independent scheme, judged by an expert panel which is chaired by Norman Hudson OBE, the founder of the Hudson’s Historic Houses and Gardens annual guidebook.

The winners will be announced at Goldsmith’s Hall in London on March 14, 2017.

Sarah Greenwood, publisher of Hudson’s Historic Houses & Gardens, has congratulated all those on this year’s shortlist.

In June this year, we reported that the Castle’s Neville Tower had been launched to the tourism market after a renovation.
