Northumberland attraction flush with success
The team at The Alnwick Garden is celebrating after the attraction's toilets were recognised at a national awards ceremony today.
The Garden was shortlisted in three different categories in the 2016 Hudson’s Heritage Awards, which celebrate the best visitor experiences at heritage attractions.
The Garden, which is the brainchild of the Duchess of Northumberland, was in the running in the Best Family Day Out, Best Loos and Best Event/Exhibition categories.
At a reception in London this afternoon, it was awarded highly commended in the loos category.
The citation read: ‘The Alnwick Garden has been commended for having elegant toilets with glass basins with fibre-optic lighting flowing through them changing colour and clean and tidy stalls.
‘The loos are converted potting sheds, popular with visitors and already an award-winner’.
The category winner was Lowther Castle and Gardens in Cumbria.
