(After extra-time)

Shilbottle made an early exit from the Anderson Cup with this extra-time defeat at New Barber Park.

Lowick made a flying start to the game with two goals in the first five minutes from Aaron Hope.

The Colliers came more into the game as the half progressed and Richard Brown shot just wide before reducing the deficit on 25 minutes with a fine strike having been put through by Jonathon Quinn. Lowick led by the odd goal in three at the break but increased their advantage after 55 minutes when Ben Fairbairn scored from close range.

Shilbottle fought back well to get back into the game and Michael Brown had a good header well saved by the Lowick keeper before Brendan Balmbra pulled a goal back on 70 minutes forcing home a Quinn corner from close range.

They appeared to have drawn level shortly after when Will Farmer headed home only for the effort to be controversially ruled out for off-side.

The game appeared to be slipping away from the Colliers when they were reduced to ten men when Michael Brown was sent off for a rash challenge but deservedly drew level with ten minutes to play when Alex Makin forced the ball home from close range following sustained pressure.

With the scores level after 90 minutes the game went into extra-time and looked to be heading for a penalty shoot-out only for Lowick’s Nial Jones to head home at the back post with two minutes left on the watch to secure a dramatic victory for the home side.

The visitors were the better team throughout this match with Belford keeper Morgan Lindsay making some good saves during the game to keep the final score down .

Three goals ahead at half time the visitors made sure of progress with two more before the final whistle. Goalscorers for North Sunderland were Ross Stanton three , Robert Scott and Kevin Elliott .

A youthful Rothbury side proved no match for Amble St Cuthbert as the final scoreline suggests .

Five goals in each half for the home club with only a Ben Storey goal proving scant consolation for the visitors .

Liam Ramsey four , Reece Ramsay three, Connor Stroughton two and a Dan Moyle goal made up the final Amble total .

Runciman Cup 1st round

This was a cracking cup tie between two fully committed sides.

Two early goals gave Embleton the lead but a Kevin Cumming strike saw Wooler pull a goal back before half time.

The visitors shaded the second half and it was the final 10 minutes before Embleton made sure of the result .

Goalscorers for Embleton were Phil Grey and Johnny Colley with two apiece, plus a goal from Jordan Turnbull .

Stand in referee Paul Yeadon earned praise from both teams for his performance .

West End started well but still found themselves three goals down at the break .

They did pull a goal back through Aaron Wright but a late collapse saw them concede five more before the final whistle. Scorers for Craster were Harry Woolhouse (2) Richard Stanwix (2), Jake Lewney, Jordan Furness, James Hedley and Glen Robson .
