Hide AdSaturday’s other scheduled league match between Shilbottle CW and Amble St Cuthbert was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at the Welfare Ground, Shilbottle.
The other two game were Laidler Lancaster Cup semi finals which gave the NNFL its first cup finalists of the 2017-2018 season.
Both games went according to form with Rothbury and Tweedmouth Harrow progressing into the final.
Belford were at home to Rothbury and it was the away sides clinical finishing along with Belford’s mistakes that saw Rothbury go into the final winning 7-2 at Meadow Park.

Hide AdRothbury led 3-1 at half time after capitalising on the home sides mistakes with goals from Gareth McCann, Dan Thompson and Michael Old. Belford’s first half goal came from Paul Muers.
In the second half the home side pressed forward and got back to 4-2 with a Kevin Greshon goal but Rothbury’s experience saw them home with further goals from McCann, Old and a Thompson brace that saw him complete his hat trick.
In the other semi final played at The Martins, Wooler it was again the away side that left victorious.
Tweedmouth Harrow put last week’s disappointments behind them with a strong performance which saw them win 4-1. Goals from Jonny Simpson and a Martyn Tait ‘worldie’ saw the visitors into a 2-0 lead at half time. Further goals in the second half from Dale Reap and a second from Simpson saw the Berwickside through to the final while Wooler’s consolation goal, which had brought them back into the game at 2-1, came courtesy of Kyle Jeffries.
