Awards can be made for a number of areas including charity work, citizenship, caring, sport or community participation.

Mayor Alan Symmonds said: “There are people who make a real difference to this town and its residents and the tourists who visit. They are the sort of people who just do what needs to be done without making a fuss and I feel it is important that these people got recognition for what they do.

“Last year, 12 people received individual awards and four received group awards. The types of areas they were nominated for included fund-raising efforts for local charities and sports facilities; coaching activities; volunteering work within the town; and work in bereavement services.”

Nomination forms are available from the town-council office (Room 5, 27 Fenkle Street, Alnwick), by calling 01665 602574 or visiting www.alnwick-tc.gov.uk.

Completed forms need to be returned to the town-council office by Monday, April 30.
