No second chance for music festival

NO appeal is to be made over rejected plans for a 15,000-capacity music festival on the Northumberland coast.

Nightwatch Ltd had applied for a premises licence for Multigroove Festival, to take place at Springhill Farm, near Seahouses, from Thursday, August 30, to Monday, September 3, this year as well as in 2013 and 2014.

But it was turned down by Northumberland County Council’s licensing sub-committee after the proposal faced strong opposition at a hearing in February from residents and Northumbria Police, who were primarily concerned about policing the ‘inaccessible site’ and road issues.

Following the decision, the applicants said that they were looking into an appeal but the 21-day period in which to submit an appeal has now lapsed.
