NEWSLETTER: What do you think of idea?

Longhoughton Parish Council recently discussed the need for a community newssheet covering the parish of Longhoughton, which includes Longhoughton, Howick and Boulmer.

On behalf of the parish council I am now seeking support for this idea, with a view to it being discussed at the June meeting.

The overall objective of the newssheet would be to improve communication within the parish by making it available to community organisations, the parish council and residents to publish information.

The newsletter would be produced approximately every two months.

It would be independent of Longhoughton Parish Council, but the council would sponsor it. It would be produced by an editor or editors, and there may be an editorial board.

It would be open to all community organisations within the parish to publish their information and programmes. It would be distributed to every household within the parish free of charge. It would also be available online and linked to a community website that is being developed by the parish council.

So far several community organisations in the parish have given their support to the idea, but we would like to hear from other groups and residents.

For the idea to work we will need volunteers to be involved in the editing and others to deliver.

If you would like to volunteer, would like more information or would like to express views, please contact me at [email protected] or call 01665 572888.

Coun Adrian Hinchcliffe,

Longhoughton Parish Council
