A new youth club is starting in a north Northumberland village next Tuesday when a special launch event takes place.

The club, at Alnmouth Methodist Church, Chapel Lane, is run by the Alnwick-based Christian charity Contagious, supported by the The John Appleby Trust in Alnmouth.

Rev Lynda Coulthard, chairman of the Trust, said: “Although the youth club has been going for a number of years now, we are working to build a bigger and better club by going into partnership with Contagious.

“What is really important is that the only youth club in the village meets the needs of young people in the area and that the activities are fun.”

Paul Allen, chairman of Contagious, added: “Contagious is really pleased that a partnership has developed with The John Appleby Trust and that the new club will give young people the opportunity to meet together socially, learn life skills based on Christian values and take part in other activities such as games and craft. Our new youth and schools worker, Claire Mead, is working with the team at Alnmouth to deliver the club.”

The new youth club, Rock Solid Alnmouth, is open to all young people in the local area in school Years 5-8 and it will run on Tuesdays from 4.45pm to 6.15pm every week in term-time. The club will also have a tuck shop. Subs are 50p per session.
