A new school crossing patrol officer is needed for one of the key roads in Alnwick.
Currently, Northumberland County Council has no lollipop man or woman to help children cross the road safely on South Road, near to St Paul’s RC School.
Also, there are likely to be students walking to the new high school at Greensfield, or catching buses out of town, who also need to cross the busy road at that point.
The council has a number of vacancies throughout Northumberland which it is trying to fill, but while there were a number of successful applicants over the summer, there has been no interest from anyone for the Alnwick post.
You can find out more or apply for the role, which pays £7.85 per hour, at www.northeastjobs.org.uk
It has often been an issue attempting to recruit school crossing patrol officers in Alnwick, with two appointments in 2014 ending a six-year vacancy.
