New plans lodged to expand further wedding venue

Plans have been lodged to construct five new buildings at a north Northumberland wedding venue.

The buildings would provide guest and manager’s accommodation for Richard Shell, the owner of Doxford Barns, near Chathill.

The application supercedes earlier plans to build 10 wooden camping pods for wedding guests as feedback suggested there was no demand for this type of accommodation and more luxurious accommodation was required.

The wedding business was set up in July 2015 and its growth has continued to accelerate with three weddings now being booked each week and inquiries being made up to 2020. Doxford Barns offers three day-weddings, but a shortfall in accommodation means only a small proportion of the guests are currently able to do this.
