Two police officers have joined the Alnwick team.

PC Stuart Bruce now covers Rural Alnwick, including Shilbottle, Felton, Longhoughton, Embleton, Craster, Newton-by-the-Sea, Rock, Denwick and Rennington, among other areas.

Among his responsibilities, PC Bruce will take on Community Speed Watch, Farm Watch and rural crime issues.

PC Rob Dobson takes over as the new Alnwick Town Neighbourhood officer.

Among his duties, PC Dobson will be a single point of contact for the town’s Duchess’s Community High School and link in with Alnwick Pub Watch and Shop Watch.

The officers will work closely with their respective team members – Community Support Officer (CSO) Kevin Simpson, who covers Rural Alnwick, and CSO Katie Gerrard, who covers Alnwick Town.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Sharon Wilmore-Greaves, from Alnwick & Rothbury, has welcomed the two new members to the Alnwick Team.

She said: “I’m delighted to have two new officers join our team here in Alnwick.

“I know our new officers will be well received by local people as our close-knit communities take a keen interest in their local police. Our neighbourhood officers will also make it their business to get out and about to meet residents and business people as they get to know their new beat areas.

“We have a lot of people who in the community who volunteer and get involved with Farm Watch, Community Speed Watch and other schemes. Our new team members will be actively encouraging new people to join in and volunteer, if they can.”
