The muscle balm launched by Skin Salve.

Made entirely from plant derivatives and essential oils, with no parabens, synthetic fragrances or SLS, Active Lifestyle Muscle Balm is used for warming up, during and after exercise to revive tired muscles. Its content of moisturising natural creams means it also conditions dry skin.

John Davidson, director of JHA Associates Ltd which owns Skin Salve and the growing range of skin care complementary products, said: “We recognised that there is a gap in the market serving sports, fitness, outdoor leisure and well-being enthusiasts for a high performance natural muscle-care product.

“The difficulty was creating a formulation that was 100 per cent natural, effectively conditioning muscles and that could benefit skin during application. We conducted an online research project through our extensive customer base which confirmed our beliefs.”

The company turned to award-winning Gillingham-based CHULO Naturals to work with, using botanical science to create a 100 per cent natural formulation to meet the specific requirements.

Having an enviable reputation for quality, CHULO is a strong believer in supporting UK-based businesses and also source all of its ingredients from UK-based businesses.

Its strong ethical background was also an influencing factor as its formulations are tested on humans, not animals.

Claire Hulott, managing director of CHULO, said: “We are delighted to add Skin Salve to the list of prestigious clients we are proud to work with and wish them every success on the exciting journey of a new product launch.”

The balm meets the safety guidelines laid down under Good Manufacturing Practice and is registered on The European Cosmetics Portal.

John added: “We can see a great demand for this product in sports, leisure and physio-therapy to keep muscles at their peak level of tone. And it cares for skin as a bonus.”

The new rub is available online at There have been number of inquiries from potential partners in the leisure sector throughout the UK and it will be available over the counter at a select number of outlets.
