A NATIONWIDE hotel chain is planning to open one of its 37 new branches in Alnwick.

Travelodge has announced a National Park expansion push with its sights focused on the town for its proximity to Northumberland National Park.

With more of those holidaying at home choosing to stay in the countryside rather than the coast, the Travelodge property team has been instructed to focus its efforts on finding suitable sites near the UK’s 15 National Parks.

The hotel size will range from 30 rooms to more than 100 bedrooms, depending on the location and building requirements.
