A renowned chef is heading up the kitchen at a boutique hotel and restaurant in Alnwick.
John Blackmore has been appointed as head chef at The Cookie Jar, on Bailiffgate.
The venue opened its doors in September 2017, following a major transformation of the former St Mary’s Convent.
A Cookie Jar spokesman said: “As The Cookie Jar continues to go from strength to strength, we are delighted to announce the appointment of John Blackmore.
“He brings with him many years of experience and we are extremely excited to have him on board.
“We are also happy to confirm that in addition to Fridays and Saturdays, our bistro is now open on a Thursday night – offering a surf and turf menu.
“Dishes include garlic and ginger prawns served with flatbread and salad; grilled halloumi cheese with Greek salad; and various home-cooked burgers, such as Holy Guacamole, Burger Heaven and The Cardinal.”
John’s appointment follows the opening of The Cookie Jar’s garden and terrace, which is serving light lunches and afternoon teas throughout the day, and cocktails and drinks in the early evening.
The terrace is designed with lighting, background music and heated lamps.
