In Sync, based in Amble, now offers a range of complimentary services, including sports and remedial therapy, colonic hydrotherapy and digestive health, counselling and a range of holistic and relaxation therapies.

Led by ex-NHS nurse Hazel Small, who has also volunteered as a remedial therapist in Sarajevo through the Healing Hands Network, the busy practice caters for all ages of men, women and children.

“I believe that the state of the mind affects the body and vice versa, which is why I feel it is important to offer treatments for both mental and physical health,” said Hazel.

Five therapists operate from the In Sync wellbeing centre, including renowned tai chi instructor Amanda Barrell, who also offers relaxation therapy, shiatsu and meridian balancing sessions. However, Hazel is now seeking to expand further and is taking inquiries from a range of specialists.

She is especially keen to hear from chiropodists and podiatrists, to meet increasing demand from her clients.

“The centre offers an excellent business opportunity for individual practitioners to grow their client base without committing to an expensive yearly rental contract,” she said.

Hazel has her sights firmly set on the future, with plans to continue helping civilian victims of war abroad and, closer to home, to introduce a service focused on post-trauma rehabilitation.
