New attractions at the Castle
The Alnwick Castle begins its open season today with a range of new and exciting attractions aimed to entertain families and avid historians alike.

Hide AdThe new programme includes a mix of activities for children of all ages, including shows from a medieval Alchemist, craft making with a company of artisans and the chance to meet Zooted, the sword-juggling jesting duo.
All of the new activities will be on show alongside the already successful Knights’ and Dragon Quest, spooky Lost Cellar adventure, and the now world-famous, broomstick lessons with resident witches and wizards.
Avid historians will be able to enjoy free historical grounds tours every day, in addition to the State Room tour, which allows visitors to see inside the home of the 12th Duke of Northumberland and his family.

Hide AdThe Castle also boasts a bumper CV as home to various film locations, most famously known as Hogwarts in the Harry Potter film series, and as Brancaster Castle in the recent Downton Abbey Christmas Special. Other appearances include the BBC’s The Hollow Crown and Black Adder.
With that in mind, the venue has updated its Downton Abbey exhibition and revamped its ‘On Location’ venue tours, which have become increasingly popular with tourists.
Across the Easter holidays, Raphael Historic Falconry demonstrations will be taking place, alongside archery and laser clay pigeon shooting. Additional prices may apply.
