Naming ceremony for boat
The £2million Shannon-class vessel arrived in the town in November and was given a warm welcome from the crowds that lined the Quayside to greet her.
Now, the community is being encouraged to turn out once again, this time for the naming ceremony, which will take place on Saturday, May 27, at Amble Lifeboat Station at Radcliffe Quay.

The Shannon will be named Elizabeth and Leonard, in memory of a couple whose legacy contributed towards the vessel.
To help pay for the lifeboat, a £200,000 fund-raising appeal was launched in 2014, and this ambitious total was smashed in June last year – a month ahead of schedule.
