Musician has a double date with the county

An award-winning Canadian musician will be making two appearances in north Northumberland in the coming weeks.

Musician and songwriter Ian Sherwoodwill be appearing at the monthly Rothbury Roots music night at the village’s Queen’s Head Hotel on Thursday, May 26.

And just over a week later, on Sunday, June 5, he will be on stage at Wingates Village Institute.

Hailing from Nova Scotia, Ian Sherwood mixes catchy melodies and heart-breaking stories with intricate guitar loops, saxophones and pop, rock and jazz grooves to create an energetic stage show.

He is a talented performer/instrumentalist and a natural storyteller, with an easy approach, which audiences love.

It will be a return visit to Northumberland for Sherwood, who performed as part of the Highlights Rural Touring scheme last year.

His Rothbury gig starts at 8pm with doors open at 7.30pm. Admission is £10 and tickets can be bought from RothburyRoots.com or on 01669 620470.

It is his second visit to Wingates, and he will again be part of the Highlights scheme.
