Alistair Anderson’s exciting new line-up conjures the spirit of the landscape with music that is rooted in both the hills and the tradition.

His own tunes rub shoulders with those of the Northumbrian shepherds who inspired him, alongside old tunes passed through many generations.

Northlands is made up of three musicians Ian Stephenson, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist, Sophy Ball, a dynamic fiddle player, and Sarah Hayes, who grew up in Warkworth, a gifted singer and flute player, who have all been influenced by Alistair as a fellow musician, teacher and mentor through Folkworks Youth Summer School or the Newcastle Folk Degree Course.
