Museum on mission to collect oral history

The Bailiffgate Museum has launched Speak For Your Self, a new project which aims to collect memories in spoken form.

A launch day is being held at the museum on Thursday, October 13, at 7pm, when Lesbury Village Hall, Shilbottle WI and Longframlington residents will give presentations about their oral history projects.

Jane Mann, volunteer, said: “This week we have read that within 60 years across England everyone will speak the same estuary kind of English. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen, but at least we can try to record all our wonderful Northumbrian voices now.”
