Volunteers are wanted to help with a series of First World War-themed activities at a military museum this summer.

The Alnwick Castle-based Fusiliers Museum of Northumberland will host the events as part of a Heritage Lottery Fund’s Call To Arms project.

One of the highlights will be a 1914-1918-themed week of activities from July 21 to 26, culminating in a First World War re-enactment and a regimental band march around the castle.

Other activities throughout the summer include medal making, trench art and an authentic camp kitchen.

The museum is also hosting a special ground-floor exhibition, The Northumberland Fusiliers and the First World War.

Activities officer Nicola Day said: “Volunteers have played a huge role in shaping the activities at The Fusiliers Museum of Northumberland.

“This summer season, volunteers will be able to gain a chance to work alongside re-enactors and with artefacts from the museum’s collections.”

Anyone who is interested in becoming a volunteer should contact Nicola by emailing ac tivitiesfusnorthld@aol.co.uk or calling 01665 602152.
