Aln Valley Railway will be hosting the event at its Lionheart Station on Saturday and Sunday.

Last year it was by far the best attended event at the Railway and with the number of layouts increased from 15 to more than 20, plus extra society and trade stalls, a bumper turnout from the public is expected.

Admission is by donation: Adults are invited to contribute £4 and concessions £2.

A complimentary copy of the 20-page show brochure will be included.

There will be a number of ‘visiting layouts’ coming from other parts of England and Scotland. From Nottingham comes the scale layout ‘Board Lane’, while from Central Scotland the detailed layout ‘Sauchenford’ makes its first exhibition appearance, with ‘Mynydd Fach’, a layout with a Welsh theme, coming to Alnwick from West Yorkshire.

Lots of locally-based layouts will also feature including a huge 30’ long example, making the journey from Shilbottle.

In addition there will be live-steam models and various exhibitions and demonstrations from local clubs, societies and modellers, including the Alnwick Miniature Modellers and Jack Halliday, from Amble. Various model and bookshops will also be present with goodies to tempt prospective buyers.

The usual attractions will also be on offer including the buffet cafe, gift shop and the museum as well as a bring-and -buy stall and train rides with steam locomotive RICHBORO and diesel locomotive DRAX offering ‘Driver for a Tenner’ opportunities throughout the weekend.

The summer raffle will also be drawn on Sunday.
