A JURY has returned a verdict of suicide after hearing evidence at an inquest into the death of gunman Raoul Moat.
The 37-year-old blasted himself in the head with a sawed-off shotgun after a week on the run, which ended with police surrounding him at Riverside in Rothbury on July 10.
Just minutes ago at Newcastle Crown Court, after five hours of deliberation, the jury of 10 gave its verdict.
It comes just hours after the Independent Police Complaints Commission released its findings into Moat’s death. The report was strictly embargoed, meaning it couldn’t be made public, prior to the outcome of the inquest.
