POLICE in Northumberland are thanking the media and public for their help in locating missing woman Monica Dixon.
At 3.42am this morning (Tuesday), a local officer was searching an area in St Helen’s Lane, Corbridge, when he found Mrs Dixon in the garden of a property.
Mrs Dixon has minor injuries, consistent with a fall, but is otherwise fit and well. She was taken to Hexham General Hospital to be checked over.
Northumberland Area Command Superintendent Mick Paterson said: “I want to thank the public and the media for their help in finding Mrs Dixon.
“The response we got from the public was a great help and residents in the Corbridge and surrounding areas couldn’t have been more helpful or accommodating to officers during the search. A big thank-you has to go to the community for their support.
“I also want to praise the work of officers who helped with the search and the search and rescue volunteers who did an excellent job in assisting us.
“We’re delighted Mrs Dixon is safe and well and can be returned home to her family.”
