Three north Northumberland organisations are to be provided with new minibuses thanks to government funding.
Bell View in Belford, North East Equality & Diversity (NEED) Ltd and Upper Coquetdale Community Transport are the three local organisations that will be benefiting from a fund to purchase new minibuses for community transport organisations.
Northumberland Liberal Democrat Sir Alan Beith and colleague Julie Pörksen have welcomed the announcement. Sir Alan said: “Organisations that provide much valued services to constituents are a really important part of the communities they work in, so it is fantastic to hear that three hard-working organisations in our area will be getting new minibuses.”
Pat Scott, former county councillor for the Belford area, added: “I am delighted that Bell View has been successful in obtaining this funding. Community transport is essential in rural areas such as Belford and the surrounding communities and will enable Bell View to deliver the services which make such a difference to the quality of life for our older residents.”
