Memories of war
These pictures from the First and Second World Wars were sent in to the gazette by readers.
The top picture is of the Home Guard from the Newham, Elford and Chathill area. It was sent in by Mr Hogg, of Embleton, and he named a few on the picture as Mr Dixon, Thomas Hogg, Mr Duncan, Adam Pyle and Mr Grey. Do you know any others? The bottom picture was given by Barbara Young. It shows the Clark brothers – Eric and Thomas at the back and George and William at the front, who all returned from the war and are on the roll of honour in the Northumberland Hall.
