Mayor helps kick start walking football

Amble Mayor Jane Dargue helped launch a new walking football initiative in the town last week.

The sessions are run by Josh Rutherford’s Tiny Woods Football Academy and take place on Tuesdays from 6pm to 7pm at James Calvert Spence College. The classes are aimed at anyone aged over 40.

It has been supported by donations from the likes of Amble Town Council and The Rotary Club of Amble and Warkworth and there are three more free taster sessions remaining of a five-week trial.

If the initiative is successful, the sessions will continue. Coun Dargue said the game was enjoyable and urged people to try it. For details, call Josh on 07714 862292.
