Matthew ready for 100-mile fund-raiser

A super-fit 28-year-old man will tackle a gruelling endurance challenge this weekend to raise money for charity.

Matthew Pearce is taking on the St Oswald’s Way 100 miles Ultramarathon, starting on Saturday.

The intimidating event will see him run continuously from Holy Island to Chollerford.

A former Royal Marine, Matthew is doing the challenge in aid of mental-health charity – Combat Stress, which treats veterans suffering from post traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety.

Matthew, who helps run Alnwick’s Real Fitness gym, said: “My hope is to raise some money for people who genuinely need our support.”
