Police are appealing for information after a spate of indecent exposures in a Northumberland town.

Since July 10, there have been three different occasions where a man has exposed himself on an area of embankment between the Sun Inn and the Cenotaph in Morpeth.

The first incident occurred on Friday, July 10, at around 4pm. It happened again on Saturday, August 22, at around 8.30am. Officers have now received another report of an indecent exposure in the area this week where a man matching the same description exposed himself at around 8am on Tuesday.

The man in question is described as being in his 30s, of medium/stocky build, wearing a tracksuit hoodie, tracksuit bottoms and a balaclava.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Sharon Wilmore-Greaves said: “We understand that incidents such as this can be distressing for families and young children and we are determined to trace the person responsible.

“We have received no reports suggesting that this man is dangerous or that he has approached any members of the public, but we understand the concerns of local residents.

“If you have seen the man in question, or know who may be responsible, then you should contact police immediately.”

Anyone who has any information should contact police on 101 extension 69191 quoting reference 847 08/09/15 or independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
