Man suffers serious injuries in Northumberland crash

A man was airlifted to hospital after suffering serious injuries when his motorbike was involved in a collision with a car in Northumberland.

The incident happened at around 4pm yesterday near to Kielder Observatory. The rider of the Yamaha motorbike was taken to hospital, but his condition was not thought to be life-threatening. The driver of the car – a Nissan Juke – was not injured in the incident.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service attended the scene and it took 15 minutes to fly the motorbike rider to hospital.

Northumbria Police officers are carrying out inquiries into the collision and appealing for any witnesses to contact them. Anyone with information is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference 835 19/07/15.
